The Founders Alliance Marks Constitution Day with Celebration

LUFKIN, TX - September 17, 2009– The Founders Alliance celebrated the day in history that the Constitution was adopted with a Constitution Day Celebration, and with the awarding of The Patriot of the Constitution Awards. The ceremony, originally scheduled for Bronaugh Park in Lufkin, was moved in doors to the City Hall Atrium.

The Award was presented to Congressman Louie Gohmert, State Senator Robert Nichols and State Representative Wayne Christian for their stand on constitutional values as legislators.

“The Constitution of the United States is a miracle which was completed on this greatly underappreciated day, 222 years ago,” says Jessica Hughes, Executive Director of The Founders Alliance. “In over two long centuries, much of this nation has forgotten what made that day unique. Today we are proud to honor men who have not forgotten our Constitution.”

Representative Louie Gohmert was the first to return a signed copy of The Founders Alliance’s Contract with Texans that was delivered yesterday to elected Texas federal officials in Washington. The contract is the work of this new organization that intends to hold elected officials accountable to the US Constitution by the involvement of a network of concerned citizens through advocacy, communication and media productions. The Contract has already been sent to Texas state officials.

The Founders Alliance is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that is a grassroots movement dedicated to reinstating the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. The organizations purpose is to seek accountability from our elected leaders, legislation repealing federal tyranny, and the cultivation of a truly informed electorate. While the organization started in Texas, the goal is to bring about a nationwide renaissance of the values and principles of governance that made this country great. To date, every state is now represented in the active participants in The Founders Alliance. Their motto is “Restoring the Republic – One State at a Time.”
